New Houses to replace redundant building

This project looks at the redevelopment of the site of a present supported housing establishment. As well as conversion of the existing building to self-contained flats the option of demolishing and rebuilding is also considered. A first option of a number of flats proved difficult to reconcile between sufficient return on investment and the restrictions of the planning requirements. The preferred solution, which has been developed to outline design stage, is for 3 individual houses on the site which can either be developed as a construction project or the sites sold on to self-builders.

The houses as designed are low energy with a high degree of sustainable construction and feature solar thermal and solar photovoltaic panels to the south facing roofs.
