Single storey extension to Grade 2 listed Victorian house

Single storey extension to Grade 2 listed Victorian house to provide enlarged kitchen and dining area. The intention is that the extension should appear as a different element to distinguish it from the original house and to be of its own period rather than be a pastiche of the historic house. To this end timber boarding, modern high performance windows and doors and a zinc alloy roof are used. The pitch of the roof is dictated by the need to be below the window to the staircase but to be above the ground floor windows.

There are minimal alterations to the exterior of the existing house other than the need to form an access door. Internally, the bathroom is to be relocated to the first floor, the existing bathroom reduced to a small cloakroom and the original kitchen area combined with the front sitting room.

The scheme has received Planning and Listed Building approvals and the construction has been completed.
