Extension to Terraced House

The project is the ground floor and second floor extensions to a mid terrace three storey house enlarge the kitchen and to provide a second shower room.

The ground floor extension occupies the width of the site to the side of the existing two storey rear section of the house and the full site width behind to form a single storey L-shape. The existing external walls to the side and rear of the two storey section are removed to allow the existing kitchen to be enlarged into the extension and a separate utility room formed. New steel work is introduced to support the first floor and continuous roof glazing added to provide a good level of daylight and ventilation to the enlarged room. Folding glass doors are included to the rear to open the extension to the garden.

The shower room extension to the second floor is partially built into the roof space over the two storey rear section of the house and the roof and walls are clad in zinc alloy to blend with the existing slate roof.

Some additional internal alterations are included and many of the services replaced or improved and the whole house was refurbished.
