Single Storey Extension to Stone Cottage

The project is the extension of a stone walled cottage to provide a large kitchen and a Utility room.

An existing small kitchen was demolished to make way and the new extension takes the full width of the rear elevation. The depth of the extension is such that the eaves height had to be reduced and the pitch of the roof reduced from that of the main house in order for the extension roof to be below the eaves of the main roof. This also required an area of the extension roof to be reduced even further locally to provide the headroom at the entrance door. The existing windows to the first floor were exposed using inverted dormers to the extension roof.

The extension is finished in local stone to the walls and slate to the roof to match the existing house.
